Smoking is known to be damaging to one’s health and can cause various cancers in the body. Smoking puts teens and young adults at risk for lung cancer, respiratory disease, heart disease, and more. Smoking and smokeless tobacco use are almost always initiated and established during adolescence. Tobacco is the leading cause of preventable death. Teens are often exposed to images of celebrities smoking, which can make it seem cool, even though there are many serious downsides.
Why do teens smoke?
- In people influence: This is the most common reason for kids and teens. Due to this girls are most likely to start smoking. Kids whose friends are involved in smoking start smoking seeing their friends.
- Adult smoking: Seeing adults kids and teens mostly their parents or relatives smoking they are more likely to smoke because they will recognize smoking as normal behavior and something that is grown up and mature.
- Going through stress: Kids and teens use smoking as a stress relieve method just like adults. If nicotine inhaled by cigarettes quickly activates the reward and pleasure in the areas of the brain, creating positive feelings and sensations.
- Media: In the influence of movies and televisions by seeing shows where actors smoke, they are more likely try smoking since they look up more to actors and wants be like them and follow them.
Causes of smoking:
- Lung cancer: The most dangerous and common disease. Smoking is the number one cause of lung cancer.
- Heart disease: Heart disease is the one disease that every 5 heart disease deaths is directly related to smoking.
- Diabetes: The type 2 diabetes occurs due to smoking in which no insulin can be taken it is dangerous and risky for life.
- Liver cancer: Smoking creates the lungs inflammation through which a person has difficulties in breathing and can cause chest pain also. It causes the risk of developing liver cancer.
- Eye vision loss: Due to smoking, it is said that it increases the risk of cataracts and glaucoma.
- Tuberculosis: if you’re a patient with tuberculosis or were in the past then smoking doubles your chance of getting it again.

- Make yourself busy in different works:

- Go to places where smoking isn’t allowed.
- Get plenty of rest and eat healthily. Being tired can change your mind to smoke.
- Make a proper schedule and avoid the things you might connect with smoking.
- Stay and think positive.
